Congratulations to Andrew for a fast time in his first 1500m race, leading all the way and winning it. Abi too ran her first ever 1500m and did very well.

In the earlier race, the 3000m, Craig's big pb puts him ahead of his rival Bronwyn's pb. That's been his goal. Now it is up to Bronwyn to reclaim it! But conditions were pretty bad and a ten second faster time is on the cards.

My best 3000m time in 2011 was "12:07" twice, and in 2010 12:07.94, so yesterday's 12:07.87 was my equal best time since 2009. Guess I am happy with that, but around 11:45 should be my goal in these races. I shall try again another time when it isn't hot, humid and blustery, and when I can tuck in behind some of these faster starters. Short races are a good test of how marathon training is going, which means it is probably going well.


FOOTNOTES
1. Next week only, Vets track is on Wednesday evening. There is a 1000m, an 800m which is a handicapped event, and an attractive looking 3k/5k at the end of the program.

2. The Sprint-Marathon Relay is on Sunday 12 February, 7:15am for an 8:00am start. I have put my name down, and I recommend that members of all the Sunday training groups go in it as well. It's a great event. The venue is Dunrossil Drive and the cost per person is $4.00, paid on the day. Register with Jim White when you see him, or ring him on 6231 4168. He seeds everyone into teams. It is a continuous relay, like our relay training sessions only longer, with 1k legs and a 2k leg, and each team of six totals about 36k, not quite a marathon.

After such a big day, time for a nap.
